Chicago Morning Engagement Session - Annie & Jeff
For anyone who has been following me for the last several years, they’ll know that I am a massive advocate for morning engagement sessions. There’s just something truly special about Chicago in the early hours, before the city completely wakes up. When Annie & Jeff said they were game, I knew this would be a good one.
We kicked off our sunrise session at Montrose Harbor. The sky was blanketed with clouds, but right on cue, the sun peeked through the haze, giving us a fleeting window of warm, golden morning light over the lake. It still remains one of my favorite locations in the entire city.
From there, we headed south to the lush gardens outside the Lincoln Park Conservatory. This spot holds a deeply personal meaning for Annie and Jeff: it’s where Jeff proposed! Naturally, we had to find the exact bench where he popped the question.
Since Lincoln Park holds so many memories from their time living in the neighborhood, a stroll down Lincoln Avenue was a must. We captured a few cozy, candid moments near the iconic Biograph Theatre, soaking in the quintessential Chicago neighborhood charm (I also couldn’t resist some random Chicago history in the alley. To wrap up our morning adventure, we made our way to the West Loop to visit their favorite coffee shop, Sawada. After grabbing some coffee, we stepped right next door into Gin Alley to end on a sweet note—as you’ll see at the end.
Annie and Jeff were so natural, fun, and easygoing throughout the entire morning. Getting to document these meaningful locations with such an amazing couple was an honor, and I truly can’t wait to celebrate with them at their wedding next year!
